I'm a person of high standards, and it took me quite a lot of tests to reach a level I felt is good enough to sell. And yes, I had many breaking points throughout the way.. Generally speaking, for me there are always those two edges I'm trying to grasp both at once: the industrial- mass production, and the intimate-one of kind-handmade creation.
It's a challenge, and it fascitates me. Over the years I have learned to embrace it, and to accept that it's a part of my artistic path. As a visual artist I also had these two contrasts in many of my art works.
Having said that, let's dive in.
Shape researches.
Cutting the inner circle.

Mass production, one by one.... How crazy one can be?!
At least I had my enthusiastic crew who were so eager to help.

Shaping the seat. Wait, remember this is a toddlers seat, right? But who cares? In this point I was way over any rationality in my project....
There are not enough words to describe the heart aches when screwing up a piece of plywood pattern board.

Yes, even the straps were made by hand. Absolutly insanity.

Packaging tests. This was one of the challenges I liked mostly. I really love smart, unique and interesting packages, and I made a lot of thinking of the buyers experience once they get it.
Bonding the straps was an issue, and I had to take advantage of the big middle hole. I found this supplier of organic material that looks like plastic but is not. Eventually I chose not to use it, because of the plastic look that I hated so much.

Luckily I had a model that was always hungry for work.

*I'm a bit embarrased to say but also the cardboard is hand printed in silk screen! I really can't understand now, why I was so obssesed?
I blame it on living with two babies!

Looking back, it really seems crazy to me. I made such a long process that could take a lot less time. As a person coming from an artistic pracsis, during this first process of product design, my artist persona took a serious part in the descisions making haha... And I did learnt so much on the way.
Eatanu is really speacial to me because it established the studio style and language. I hope you enjoyed seeing my process on this project!
